White Tea fights Colon Cancer

Studies have shown that regular consumption of White Tea (Camellia sinensis) provides protection against colon tumors about just as well as sulindac, drug commonly prescribed for that purpose.

Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University studied treating colon tumors and confirmed that the most effective results were obtained with a combination of White tea and sulindac. This may suggest optional approaches to cancer prevention and therapy, especially for people who suffer side effects from regular anti-inflammatory drugs.

Studies have confirmed that green and white tea block some effects of mutagens through changes in metabolism. Consumption of green tea reduced the number of tumors in mice from an average of 30 to 17, while consumption of white tea showed even better results: it reduced the numbers of tumors from an average of 30 to 13. Mice that were given both sulindac and white tea in combination, showed a tumor reduction of about 80 percent, from 30 tumors to only 6. White Tea shows better results due to less processing it undergoes, because of which it maintains the highest levels of polyphenols and antioxidants that help prevent and cure cancer.

Scientists recommend drinking about three coffee-sized mugs of white tea a day, which should provide a daily needed dose of useful polyphenols.
