White tea extract

Recent studies show that White Tea Extract has major health benefits. It can destroy bacteria, viruses and fungi in the body with more success than other tea. The study focused on Staphylococcus infections, Streptococcus infections, and pneumonia. The same study concluded that white tea, being rich in fluoride, helps prevent the growth of dental plaque, the main cause of tooth decay.

White Tea Extract also protects the skin from oxidative stress and immune cell damage and therefore adds another important element in the battle against skin cancer and serve as an agent in cosmetics to protect against signs of aging from damaged skin.

While White Tea comes from the same plant as green and black teas (Camellia sinensis), it is the least processed of all teas, as it is picked and then rapidly steamed and dried rather than fermented or roasted. Researchers believe this minimal processing of white tea yields a higher concentration of polyphenol antioxidants.

Results from recent studies show that:

- The antiviral and antibacterial effect of white tea is greater than that of green tea.

- The antiviral and antibacterial effect of several toothpastes was enhanced by the addition of white tea extract.

- White tea extract exhibited an antifungal effect on both Penicillium chrysogenum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

- White tea extract may have application in the inactivation of pathogenic human microbes, i.e., bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
